It should cause us to rethink why we say what we say when we take into consideration that the Bible never once calls itself the “Word of God”. It is called the scriptures. The Word of God is recorded in the scriptures as coming to various individuals in various times and places. The “Word of God” that came to Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel etc. That Word (instruction, plan, even the Torah) has been “handed down through angels and a mediator” Gal 3:16 (Hebrew- malak, meaning messenger). According to the writer of the book of Hebrews, “in these last days, He has spoken to us by His Son” Heb 1:2.
