Creedy Christians

The tragic legacy of creedal Christianity is after multitudes of groups and individuals splintering off from one another, and the dust settles from all of the fighting, inevitably upon reaching uniformity there will be something else on which to disagree, subsequently repeating the process and ending the perfect and promising, howbeit short "heaven". The Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed, Niceno-Constantinopolitan Creeds were not enough.

Neither was the Athanasian Creed, or any of the other multitudes of creeds down through the centuries that have been drafted to “solve all problems and differences”. Whenever followers of Messiah go "creedal", problems emerge. Ultimately, other creeds must then be drawn up to expand the anathemas that come from the others. Could I suggest that this is a far cry from what the Messiah taught and lived? Historians of dogma (such as one Adolf Harnack) must have had to of given a chuckle once or twice to the webs of stupidity that we weave in the name of Jesus and under the banner of "unity".
